Longhu Mountain is a typical Danxia landform in China. It is the birthplace of Taoism in China and joined the World Geopark Network in 2007. The Danxia landform of Longhu Mountain is composed of massive red sandstone and conglomerate of the flood-alluvial fan of the Late Cretaceous continental foothills on the southern edge of the middle section of the Xinjiang Basin in southeastern China. According to Taoist scriptures, Zhang Sheng, the fourth-generation grandson of Zhang Ling, had settled in Longhu Mountain during the Three Kingdoms or Western Jin Dynasty. Since then, the descendants of Zhang Tianshi have lived in Longhu Mountain for 63 generations, spanning more than 1,900 years. [8] The Tianshi of each generation lived here, guarded Longhu Mountain to search for immortals and magic, sat in the Qing Palace to preach and spread the teachings, lived in the Tianshi Mansion to cultivate their bodies and minds, and inherited the Taoist tradition for 63 generations, which lasted for more than 1,800 years. They were all worshipped and canonized by successive feudal dynasties, and were promoted to the highest official rank, forming the two major hereditary families of "South Zhang and North Kong (Master)" in Chinese cultural history. Shangqing Palace and the Sihan Tianshi Mansion received countless silver gifts from successive dynasties, and underwent countless expansions and repairs. The building area, scale, layout, quantity and specifications of the palaces and mansions set a record in the history of Taoist architecture. In its heyday, Longhu Mountain had more than 80 Taoist temples, 36 Taoist monasteries and several Taoist palaces. It was a veritable "Taoist capital" and a world kingdom for Taoists.

The entire scenic area has a planned area of 320 square kilometers (of which the total area under the jurisdiction of the Longhu Mountain Scenic Area Management Committee is more than 200 square kilometers), including six major scenic areas: Shangqing Palace, Zhengyi Temple, Xianshui Rock, Yingtian Mountain, Mazu Rock and Hongwu Lake. There are 99 peaks, 24 rocks and 108 natural and cultural landscapes in the scenic area. The long-standing Taoist culture, the beautiful and colorful green waters and red mountains and the mystery of the cliff tombs that have never been solved are the three major features of the cultural and natural landscapes of Longhu Mountain. Longhu Mountain, which is described in great detail at the beginning of "Water Margin", is located 20 kilometers south of the city. It is the birthplace of Taoism and the ancestral home of Zhang Daoling, the founder of Taoism, and is known as the "No. 1 Taoist Mountain in China". Longhu Mountain is unique among the national scenic spots in the country for its Taoist ancestral temple, Danxia landform, and large cliff tombs in the Spring and Autumn Period and the Warring States Period. In the middle of the Eastern Han Dynasty, Zhang Daoling, the founder of Zhengyi Taoism, once made elixirs here. Zhang Tianshi has inherited 63 generations and has gone through more than 1,900 years, so Yingtan is also called "Tao Capital". On August 2, 2010, Longhu Mountain was listed in the World Heritage List and became the eighth world natural heritage in my country. On August 2, 2010, Longhu Mountain and Guifeng were listed in the "World Natural Heritage List".
